About Me

Lauren Bourke

I am passionate about enabling individuals to achieve their personal goals, whether this be regaining mental health, managing stress or simply maintaining optimal wellbeing and balance.

In my early experience in schools, I have worked with children and adolescents with a range of presenting factors including behavioural and lifestyle difficulties, early intervention for mental health and assessment of learning difficulties.

My focus in counselling has since expanded across the lifespan. I enjoy working with clients in a therapeutic capacity to assist building understanding and tolerance of psychological distress whilst moving towards resolution, facilitating individuals to gain satisfaction and contentment in life.

I have completed DBT training through Behavioral Tech (Marsha Linehan) and have had experience facilitating skills training groups as part of a comprehensive DBT program.

I take a compassionate, collaborative and client-centred approach in employing evidence based treatment relevant to the uniqueness of the client. I encourage people to take an active role in devising treatment goals and plans and firmly believe that each individual is the expert on themselves. I strive to consistently embody non-judgment and flexibility in all that I do.

Training and Qualifications

I completed my training with a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours and later Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University and am now a Registered Psychologist.

I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and registered with Medicare Australia.
